State-wide School Closures

Gov. John Bel Edwards has declared that all public K-12 schools in Louisiana be closed from Monday, March 16, through Monday, April 13, due to the Coronavirus outbreak. This includes all schools in the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District. Per Gov. Edwards' proclamation, all employees and students will remain home. All school gatherings, practices and rehearsals are cancelled. We will share further updates via our website, Facebook and Twitter as they are available.

2020 LES 8th Graders' School Choice Ceremony

On Wednesday, January 29th, LaPlace Elementary 8th graders gathered for a National School Choice Week (NSCW) ceremony. The teachers, administration, and counselor recognized the 8th grade students as they prepare to transition to high school. The guest speaker, Claris Smith, an attorney from New Orleans, spoke to the students about making good choices, overcoming adversity in high school, and goal setting for college. Students were awarded NSCW stoles to celebrate the fact that the students and their parents have completed their first Individual Graduation Plans to help schedule high school classes and recognize the Carnegie Credits that they have already earned at LaPlace Elementary.
